Sanyo announces innovative 3D-ready projector

Sanyo has announced its PDG-DWL2500J (couldn’t they think of a better name?) - the world’s shortest focus 3D-ready projector. You can place it as close as just 1 inch away from the screen, wall or even balckboard and it will still produce an 80-inch image. The unit is also ready for the 3D revolution (don’t hold your breath on that one though).

The unit has a resolution of 1280 x 800 wide XGA and produces 2,500 lumens from its 275W light source. It has a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and supports up to 1.07 billion colours. It uses a newly developed DLP format compact optical engine and as a result is quite compact in size, measuring just 12.63 x 6.69 x 15.5 inches in size.

As for its 3D feature, it relies on the Frame Sequential Display Format, using active shutter 3D glasses worn by the viewer to benefit from the 3d image effect. Other features include a LAN port, 10W mono speaker, a HDMI terminal and RCA and S-Video inputs.
