1 site you should visit if you are passionate about photography.

The world wide web is an amazing place but at times you can feel you are drowning in data. It is impossible to take in anything but a tiny fraction of the information that is uploaded every day, never mind what's there already. According to IBM, Every day we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. In case you are wondering a quintillion is a cardinal number represented in the U.S. by the number 1 followed by 18 zeros, and in Great Britain a 1 followed by 30 zeros!

It has been estimated that a quintillion words would take up about 11 trillion books. Another way of expressing this much data in terms we might be able to grasp is to look at how long would it take for humanity to speak that many words? Studies have shown that men speak about 7,000 words per day and women speak 20,000. This averages to about 13,500 words per person. Then, 13,500 words per person per day x 7.1 billion people amounts to 96 trillion words spoken my humanity every day. With that, you get that it would take 28 years, 7 months for humanity to utter a quintillion words.

You can read all about large numbers on Pointless Large Number Stuff (link at the end of post).

So, now we understand that there is so much data out there that it can be hard to decide what to read on the web. You could, of course, ask Google and most of us do most of the time, if we are honest. However, Google very much depends on the search terms we put into our search. If we are not sure what we want to read then that may not work.

Another way is personal recommendation and that is what this post is about. I have found a site that I think is worth your time reading the articles published on it. The site is one I came across recently and I was so impressed with it I wanted to share it with you. It is called 'The Histographer' and this is what it says about itself:

Reaching out to those like us, who we are connected with through the unifying language of photography, we aspire to weld the gap of miscommunication and narrow scopes. Bridge the way for individuality, inspiration, and understanding.
We all have found our way to photography from different angles and perspectives. Some like to break rules, some like to make them, and some prefer to follow them. We can find common ground in the same places that we see in completely different ways.
We care to dig behind the lens and get to the core of the mind behind the shots. There’s a story worth telling, every time.

We all can guide each other and show what a profound world we all live in. We can support and appreciate the work we do. We can inspire each other to be the best at the craft that becomes a definition to us and it starts with YOU.
The site seems to principally feature the work of other photographs and interviewing them. There are also free Lightroom Presets available for download, which is always a plus!

I recommend you check it out and read the interviews that interest you, check out their Instagram feed and be sure to try out the free LR presets.

You can find there website here as well as on Twitter and Instagram. Oh, the link for Pointless Large Number Stuff is here.
